Indrakeeladri witnesses record rush

Heavy rush was witnessed on Indrakeeladri, abode of goddess Kanaka Durga, on the fourth day of Dasara festival on Sunday. The presiding deity was decorated as Sri Annapoorna Devi with a feeding bowl and spatula (ladle) in her hands to serve food, with Lord Shiva standing on her doorstep begging for food.
The temple management cancelled ‘antaralaya darshan’ owing to the heavy rush, and devotees had to be content with ‘laghu darshan’.
Serpentine queues were formed as crowds swelled in the afternoon. More than 1 lakh devotees thronged the temple by noon. Devotees thronged the ghats from the early hours of the day for the holy dip in river Krishna.
Meanwhile, police posted additional forces at all important points in the city to manage the rush of devotees. Additional forces were deployed to regulate the movement of devotees in the queues.
