The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee has demanded that the government convene an all-party meeting to discuss the location of the State capital and arrive at a consensus on the important issue.
The APCC has accused the Telugu Desam government of creating a rift between districts and regions in the State over the location of the capital. The government was responsible for utter chaos reigning in the State over the capital location.
The government itself appears to be in confusion over the issue as the capital that was proposed on both sides of the river abutting Vijayawada earlier had now been replaced by Guntur, said Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Raghuveera Reddy.
Much against the Sivaramakrishnan Committee’s recommendations to avoid agricultural lands and clustering all establishments at one location in the new capital, the TDP government was planning to acquire fertile and rich agriculture lands in Guntur district, he said.
