VIJAYAWADA: Members of the Auto Workers’ Joint Action Committee staged a protest at the sub-collector’s office here Friday demanding adequate supply of CNG for autorickshaws in the city.
There are about 7,000 CNG autorickshaws in the city and they need 58,000 standard cu.m. of gas. But the government is supplying only 52,500 standard cu.m.
“There are just four filling stations in the city due to which auto drivers are being forced to stand in serpentine queues for long hours for their turn. The government should set up more number of filling stations,” demanded T Ramanjaneyulu, auto driver from Krishnalanka.
The auto drivers also made several other demands and highlighted their problems on the occasion. Later, they submitted a representation to the sub-collector.
