Quality Rice Will be Supplied to All Welfare Hostels: Ravela

VIJAYAWADA:  Social welfare minister Ravela Kishore Babu has said that fine quality rice (BPT rice) will be supplied to the children in all social welfare hostels. 
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday at Kasturibhaipet, R Kishore Babu said that measures will be taken to improve facilities in boys hostels and solar fencing will be provided at girls hostels.
“The aim of the government is to upgrade all the welfare hostels in the state to residential schools. Plans have been prepared to construct a mini auditorium in every residential school. We are appointing facilitators in schools to train the children in extracurricular activities like essay writing, debates, painting, among others, depending on their interest,” stated Ravela Kishore Babu.
Minister further said that necessary steps will be taken to improve lab facilities in residential schools and to introduce video lessons for the children in hostels.
The minister said that children can make complaints regarding the problems being faced by them in hostels, to a toll free number, without mentioning the details of them and measures will be taken to solve the problems immediately. Soon the toll free number will be introduced. Also minister added that welfare hostels constructed with the ‘Chunduri victims welfare funds’ will be opened on November 11.
Earlier, he inspected the social welfare hostels at Kasturibhaipet and said there was need to create awareness among the parents, regarding the importance of English education for the children. “English knowledge and computer skills are compulsory for the students to get good job opportunities in the future,” he stressed. 
He ordered the officials concerned to maintain a complete report of health and academics of the children in hostels and asked them to prepare a proposal for additional rooms in the hostel. The minister promised to sanction proposals for additional rooms within a week.
