‘Sarvarishta santi nakshatra, graha anukulata siddhiprada Sri Yagam’ will be performed in the city from November 23 to December 2.
Sri Tridandi Sri Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar and Sri Ahobila Jeeyar performed bhoomi puja for the yagam here on Monday.
The yagam is being performed to propitiate the god and bless the mankind with good harvest and peaceful life, according to Vikasa Tarangini, a voluntary organisation floated by devotees of Chinna Jeeyar, Krishna district president B.L. Chandrasekhar.
The organisers will construct 33 ‘homa kundams’ at Yagasala on PWD Grounds. The devotees could take part in the ‘yagam’ and perform rituals in 27 kundams that represent 27 stars. In remaining kundas, the Vedic students, scholars and the Jeeyars would perform the rituals, he said.
The devotees were requested to bring pure cow ghee (clarified butter) to participate in the yagam. Agni manthanam (invoking god Agni) would be performed on November 23 and the devotees could take part in actual yagam from its following day, he said.
On final day, Chinna Jeeyar would recite all 700 slokas in Bhagavad Gita along with the devotees. Gita Jayanthi is celebrated on December 2. The Gita recitation would begin around 8 a.m. and continue up to 4 p.m., he added.
