BJP is Largest Party in Maharashtra Assembly

As predicted by Exit Polls, BJP emerged as the largest party in Maharashtra Assembly elections. Out of 288 seats, BJP is leading in 118 whereas Shiv Shena confined to second position with a lead in 61 seats. Congress is having a neck-and-neck with NCP. While Congress is leading in 44 seats, Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party is trailing in fourth position with a majority in 42 seats. Both Congress and NCP are vying up for third and fourth place.

BJP, which emerged as largest party, is confident of forming government and already intitated talks with its previous alley Shiv Sena. Although there are talks that both BJP and Sena would share CM post on rotational basis, Devendra Fadnavis of BJP is firm on BJP getting CM post.

Devendra Fadnavis, "Next Maharashtra CM will be from BJP. People have given us a strong mandate. However, our parliamentary board will decide the next step." Sanjay Raut of Shiv Sena responded to the BJP's comments and said, "This is not the right time to talk about alliance with BJP. Uddhav Thackeray will take final call."
