Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas inaugurates the new modular Operation Theatre Complex at Podila Prasad-GMCANA Super-Specialty Centre on the premises of GGH in Guntur on Friday
Kamineni Srinivas says efforts will be made to perform 50 per cent of surgeries under NTR Arogyasri at government hospitals.
Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas on Thursday inaugurated a Modular Operation Theatre complex built on the Podila Prasad-GMCANA Super Specialty and Trauma Care Centre on the premises of Government General Hospital here.
The OT complex was built with a Rs.1.25 crore donation from the Guntur Medical College Association of North America and Rotary Club of Stockton Delta, USA.
The four modular operation theatres have been designed in a way ensuring sterility and efficiency. The theatres have been built adjacent to each other providing optimal use of space. Futuristic demands for organ transplantation have been kept in mind while designing the OTs.
Addressing a meeting, the Minister said that the State government was committed to improve facilities at GGHs in all districts. Efforts would be made to perform 50 per cent of surgeries under NTR Arogyasri at government hospitals. The government was taking steps to open 1,000 generic medical outlets across the State and fill the vacant posts at all teaching hospitals. Sanitary services would be outsourced, Mr. Srinivas added.
With the addition of OT complex, the state-of-the art integrated modern medical facility has the most advanced medical care to people from underprivileged sections of the society.
The 244-bedded centre was built on a Public Private Partnership with a major contribution from US-based Gastroenterologist Podila Venkata Prasad, who donated $ 1.57 million (Rs.5 crore), Government of Andhra Pradesh (Rs.10 crore) and donations pooled by GMCANA (Rs.20 crore).
Guntur East MLA Shaik Mustafa, West MLA M. Venugopala Reddy, Director of Medical Education G. Shanta Rao, GGH Superintendent T. Venugopala Rao, Rotary International district 3150 governor Malladi Vasudev were present.
