VIJAYAWADA: National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) member PM Kamalamma has said that police are negligent on filing complaints lodged by the Scheduled Castes (SC).
Speaking at a review meeting held to address the complaints and problems relating to SCs at the Sub-collector’s office in Vijayawada, Kamalamma urged the police to promptly register cases after receiving complaints from SC people and give them a copy of the FIR. She said that as people from this section are timid, they approach police in groups to lodge their complaints. Therefore it is the duty of police to receive their complaints and strive to arrest the accused.
PM Kamalamma pointed out that reports about no response from officials to complaints from SCs are coming mostly in cases concerning the revenue department and land dealings. She said that she would take a tour of Krishna district once in three months.
