VIJAYAWADA: People travelling at night time between 11 pm and 6 am will have to compulsorily carry a proof of identity and the RC book of the vehicle in which they are travelling in the city.
According to a press release from Vijayawada Commissioner of Police AB Venkateshwara Rao, the move has been taken to improve security conditions and curb crime in the capital region which is frequently visited by tourists and officials.
Police have been conducting special drives and inquirng about the whereabouts of persons who raised suspicion or were roaming around aimlessly during night.
People who are unable to prove their identity will be taken to police station and will be released only after providing genuine ID proof.
