Suspects in Shootout Case Identified

VIJAYAWADA: Commissioner of police AB Venkteswara Rao has said that suspects involved in planning and executing the sensational shootout at Peda Avutupalli on September 24 have been identified. He, however, clarified that no arrests have been made till date.
It may be recalled that three astrologers belonging to the same family were shot dead at Peda Avutupalli on National Highway-16.
All the three and the people who plotted their killings belong to Pinakadimi village of Pedavegi mandal in West Godavari district.
Speaking to media about the progress in investigation at his office in Vijayawada, the commissioner said that local people had plotted the shootout while four to six contract killers were suspected to have been involved in the shooting and killing of the three.
There were also two constables sitting in the front seat of Tavera vehicle in which the victims were travelling in. But they did not inform the police immediately after the shootout had occurred, he said.
“The constables had said that they were frightened and ran away from the scene. We shall ascertain whether the constables had any role in the shootout, Venkteswara Rao said.
